Bolton woman wakes up to car alarm as window smashed

The Bolton New reported how vehicles parked in The Haulgh were being targeted on a nightly basis over three nights, with police urging people to come forward with information.

The incidents have taken place on Chadwick Street and Castle Street.

And one of the victims  said she was awoken Tuesday morning to find her vehicle was among those  targeted.

She was alerted by car alarm went off and she first feared that due to the weather a bin had collided with it.

But she went outside to discover a roof tile had been thrown into her vehicle.

She said: “I knew there were a large number of cars getting done. It is a massive inconvenience.

“Cars on three streets have been targeted.

“I was going to use it go and see my sister in Leeds.

“A roof tile has been thrown at the front window and then he has gone and smashed the back.

“I found a roof tile inside the vehicle.

“The car alarm went off at 5.10am in the morning. A van has been hit and so have other cars.

“The damage was £2,400 but I got it on my insurance, I had to pay the £115 excess.”

The woman’s car was subsequently repaired at the garage (images show other cars damaged nearby.)

The Bolton News: The roof slab which was thrown through the window

Officers said earlier this week Chadwick Street and Castle Street were among the areas where the damage was taken place.

And following an appeal police  say they have detained a man.

A spokesperson from GMP Bolton North said: “Following from our previous appeal for the damages in the Chadwick Street area we can now confirm that a male has been arrested on suspicion of for 11 counts of criminal damage and is in police custody where he will be questioned.”
