Atherton: Axe, bow and arrow and knives seized by police

Officer acted on local intelligence gathered intelligence and attended at a home on Chaucer Grove.

While there they seized an air rifle, bow and arrow, baton,, knuckle dusters, a hand axe and knives.

A man and a woman in their thirties were arrested on suspicion of weapons offences.

They were later dearrested and will attend a voluntary interviews at a later date.

Police also found a number of cannabis laced sweets which were seized.

Inspector Sam Davies, from GMP’s Wigan district, said: “We will always act upon intelligence related to weapons, as we are determined to keep them off our streets. Enquiries are still ongoing into the seized haul, and work is ongoing in relation to the investigation.

Earlier this week weapons were seized by police in Leigh.

GMP have seized more than three thousand weapons in the last few years.
