Radcliffe: Firefighters remain at scene of blaze at commercial premise

Nearby residents were urged to keep their windows closed after a blaze broke out at a commercial premises on Mount Sion Road at around 6pm.

Three jets and a ground monitor were used to bring the fire under control.

A huge plume of smoke could be seen rising from far away after the blaze broke out.

And fire crew have confirmed they still have a prescence at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Bury fire station said: “We have still got two units there monitoring it.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Just after 6pm several fire engines from across Greater Manchester along with the command support unit from Atherton, technical response unit from Ashton, the hose laying llorry from Chadderton and turntable ladder from Manchester Central, were called to reports of a building fire involving a commercial property on Mount Sion Road, Radcliffe.

 “Crew arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters are using three jets and a ground monitor to extinguish the fire.

 “Firefighters have been in attendance for around two hours and are still at the scene .”
